Alexa definition by Wikipedia:
Alexa provides traffic data, global rankings and other information on thousands of websites, and claims that 6 million people visit its website monthly.
The data provided by Alexa is based on the last three-month traffic. The user who visits your website will be counted as a visit if and only if they have Alexa toolbar on their browser. That is why the technology, and SEO related websites have good Alexa rank than the entertainment websites for the same traffic. The audience related to technology, and SEO is more wanted to check the site status they are browse for than the entertainment audience does. You can see any site statistics that are publicly shown by Alexa such as traffic rank, reach rate, pageviews, pageviews/user, bounce rate, time on site, search analytics, audience, contact info, reviews, related links, and click stream. For these statistics, type the site URL into Alexa search box, and click on search. Once you claim your website in Alexa, you can edit your contact info that will show publicly.
